EVENT STAGES

Book Selection Process

Subject area teachers (Turkish & Literature departments) meet each June to plan the reading program for the upcoming academic year. They decide how many books each grade will read and prepare a preliminary book list.

Teachers review titles from the Ministry of Education’s “100 Essential Works” list and assess their relevance to different grade levels.

Books are divided among the teachers for reading over the summer.

Teachers present the books to their colleagues at a department meeting, highlighting their content and educational value. Following discussions, a final book list is created along with a chart outlining each book’s themes and intended student learning outcomes.

The list is submitted to the school administration for approval. Approved books are distributed to students at the start of the academic year along with their textbooks.

Reading Timeline

Based on the page count, a reading schedule is set by subject teachers and posted on classroom bulletin boards.

Students read their assigned books during the months scheduled in the first and second terms.

Reading takes place in designated reading areas within the school.

Book Quizzes

At the end of each term, students take a quiz based on the assigned reading. The results are included as part of their performance grades.

Book Festival

Author Meet & Greets and Book Presentation Days

These components form the final stages of the project.

This event is planned and implemented by the Turkish Language and Literature Department.
